Physiotherapist and Pilates instructor Claire Gurney and Soft Tissue Therapist Sofia Hancy are trained to treat all women’s health related issues, including issues arising both antenatally and postnatally. They provide thorough assessments, treatments, rehabilitation programmes and tailored massage treatments for each client on an individual basis. At Recover Physio we know precisely what treatment you need, as well as the rehab process required for your specific issue.

Are you pregnant, or have recently given birth?

Many women experience aches, pains and stiffness both during and after pregnancy, ranging from mild to severe. Our Pregnancy service includes assessment, treatment and rehabilitation as well as soft tissue and massage techniques to help to relieve those muscle and joint pains.

Regular treatment throughout pregnancy supports the health and wellbeing of you and your baby and our treatment employs techniques and positioning adapted to the specific stage of your pregnancy, which means that you can see us at any time.

Claire and Sofia can help you to maintain muscle strength, joint mobility and good posture during pregnancy, as hormonal and biomechanical changes place extra strain on the body, leading to pain and discomfort. Most muscle and joint problems experienced in pregnancy can be relieved and improved with physiotherapy and massage therapy and you will be given an individualised programme specific to you and your needs.

Are you suffering symptoms of menopause?

Most women will experience menopausal symptoms at some time in their lives. For most, this will occur between the ages of 45 and 55, but for many women, it can be as early as their 30’s. Whilst menopause can have a significantly negative impact on women’s health and overall quality of life, physiotherapy can both relieve and mitigate many of the symptoms.

Claire and Sofia can assess and treat the physical aches and pains commonly experienced during menopause using a range of techniques specific to your needs. Massage and soft tissue work are very effective in helping to improve mood, sleep and general wellbeing.

Exercise also plays a very important part in your treatment and you will be advised of the right exercise programme for you. Undertaking individualised exercise programmes can help to improve overall muscle strength, bone density and balance, weight management, sleep quality and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, all of which can be negatively impacted during the menopause.

  3. Loss of strength and balance during the menopause or pregnancy.
  4. Irritability, mood swings and insomnia.

  6. Unwelcome weight gain.

If any of these are familiar to you, then we would love to help!

We understand that you have options when it comes to who you see for your healthcare, so we want to make certain that you feel completely comfortable with us and confident about how we will help you.

We always listen to feedback from our patients and the most common thing we hear is that they really liked being able to speak to a Physiotherapist, for free, before their first appointment. It gave them the chance to ask questions about their health challenges and learn how physiotherapy could help them to enjoy a better quality of life. We always take the time to talk through your issues with you and to answer any questions you have.

At Recover Physio, our physiotherapists will work with you to relieve your women’s health problems and to help you manage them going forward.

If you’re interested in relieving any specific women’s health issue, then here are 3 positive steps that you can take right now:

Step 1:

Make a decision to get some help. So many women are unsure who to talk to and so the problem is never addressed. If you recognise yourself in anything we have said so far, then you can take comfort from the fact that you are not alone. We have helped many women just like you at Recover Physiotherapy.

Step 2:

Next, do the right exercise. Whether you are pregnant, have recently had a baby, or are experiencing menopausal symptoms, taking part in the correct type of exercise is so important. Exercise, under the guidance of a physiotherapist, will help to reduce aches and pains, increase strength and muscles tightness, improve bone density and enjoy better sleep quality.

Step 3:

Get real, hands-on physiotherapy. Physiotherapy is proven to help with all kinds of women’s health problems. Here at Recover Physio, we help women of all ages to become pain-free, more active, and to enjoy improved quality of life.
