Is Knee Pain holding you back?

Why painkillers and visits to your GP are not the answer!

Knee pain is often dismissed as wear and tear, or simply something that comes with age. In some cases patients believe that it will just go away over time on its own. However, as well as being extremely frustrating, living with knee pain can be debilitating and can prevent you from doing all of those activities that you have previously taken for granted.

At Recover Physio, we want to cure your knee pain without injections, without having to take painkillers and without you having to go through an operation or wear a knee brace. We want to see you enjoying an active and pain-free life again in the shortest time possible.

Is your Knee Pain not improving?

If you can’t quite put your finger on what your problem is and where the pain is coming from in your knee, then you are not alone. We see this kind of problem all the time. In fact knee pain is one of the most common conditions we treat.

Lots of people believe that their knee pain will simply wear off or get better over time. That one morning they will wake up and their pain will have magically disappeared and that their debilitating knee condition will be a thing of the past! The reality, unfortunately, is that just doesn’t happen. The knee is a very complicated joint that you use all of the time and, left untreated, the pain will continue to get worse, preventing you from doing the things you want to do.

Does this sound familiar to you?

Another scenario we hear about all the time in our clinics is patients who have been to the doctor and been told to simply rest and take painkillers, or to wear a knee support. Weeks later, with no sign of improvement, our patient was left feeling they had wasted their time, still unable to enjoy the activities that they want to do. Some then go back to the doctors only to be prescribed more rest and stronger painkillers.

Maybe you’re confused because different people are telling you different things, or you feel that rest is the best thing because every time you try to do anything, even walk, your knee hurts?

Maybe you’ve been told to do particular exercises by one person, but totally different exercises by someone else?

When faced with poor or conflicting advice, it can become very confusing and frustrating. What is the best thing to do to relieve the pain? Will your knee ever actually recover?

Because of this confusion people often do not know what to do to fix their knee pain. Worse, many simply dismiss the pain and start accepting it as part of life, something that they will always have to live with.

Is this how you feel?

If you are currently living with knee pain, there are 5 key reasons why it could be lasting much longer than it should:

  1. You thought it would go away on its own after a period of rest, but it didn’t. You tried ice, heat and even supports but they did nothing to help.
  2. You went to the doctor who told you to rest, wear a support and take painkillers, which did nothing to relieve the problem.
  3. A family member or a friend told you that everyone’s knees get bad, especially as they get older. So you dismissed the problem.
  4. You have been to healthcare professionals and possibly even physios in the past, but they weren’t able to fix the cause of your pain.
  5. You’ve tried sports massage but all that did was make it feel slightly better short term, but with no long-term relief.
